So far…

Just a quick one to let you know we are in Colombia, back together again!

The 2 week break was a wonderful opportunity to have a ‘holiday from the holiday’.  The pace was as slow or as fast as we chose to make it, and the company was of our own choosing, all up ‘a great time’ was had by all!  Now we are more than ready for our South American adventure!

During the break, some opted to stay in Central America and explore the nearby Corn Islands off the coast of Nicaragua where a lot of diving was done, lobster was eaten and suntans were enhanced.

A few chose to go ahead to Colombia to enroll in Spanish school and immerse themselves in South American culture by living with a family while attending daily lessons.  Others took the opportunity to explore the Colombian countryside, including the famous ‘Ciudad Perdida’ (6 day Lost City trek) which proved to be an amazing experience, not to mention, extremely hot and bloody hard work!

The most popular destination by far - Cuba!  This proved to be a wonderful choice and everyone returned simply RAVING about the place!  Bottles of Havana Club rum, Cubans finest Cohiba Cigars, extremely friendly people, beautiful old cars and stunning architecture!  Cuba was definitly a huge hit!

Cartagena was a great city and a perfect introduction to Colombia.  If any of us were concerned about the safety factor in Colombia we certainly aren’t now.  Colombia is a wonderful place and we are all really enjoying it, the nightlife alone is proving to be the best so far!

Until next time…
