So far…

We have just completed the Inside Passage of Alaska’s South East Coast.  We took (complete with truck) a ferry from Skagway through to Alaska’s State capitol, Juneau, where we spent a day viewing some of the islands stunning scenery and wildlife.

From Juneau we ferried to Ketchikan, where, avoiding the thousands of cruise ship passengers, we headed out of town to the various State parks, viewing glaciers, temperate rain forests and wildlife.  We also got to see Alaska without it covered in snow and it was all very green, mossy and fern filled – surprisingly different from what we were use to.

Ending our journey in Prince Rupert, our last few days were spent is this beautiful country (Yes – we know, it’s a US State but it seems completely separate) viewing bears, beavers, whales and orcas (killer whales).

Even though it was the first, I think Alaska will go down as one of the best.  I think it’s safe to say that Alaska has to be one of the most ‘consistently’ beautiful places most of us have ever been to.

We have just re-enter Canada, where we will head for Jasper, Banff and Kootenay National Parks (The Rockies) – 8 bears spotted today so far!

Fishing results: Will 1 (although under dispute at this stage), Zane 0, Pablo 0

Until next time…
